Heating and air conditioning in Denver
From Washington Park to Montbello, Denver has the oldest and the newest systems in the metro, from 1920s hot-water boilers and 1950s ranch furnaces to heat pumps in new townhomes. Our shop is on South Santa Fe Drive, so most Denver addresses are 10 to 25 minutes away.

Homes we work on in Denver
Denver Squares and bungalows, 1890s to 1930s
Many still heat with a hot-water boiler and cast-iron radiators. Others had a coal furnace converted to gas decades ago, since replaced. We work on both, and we bleed every radiator on a boiler tune-up.
Post-war brick ranches, 1950s
Harvey Park, Virginia Village and University Hills are full of them. The ducts were sized for heat, so the central air added later often can't reach the back bedrooms. A return air path and a balanced duct run fix most of it.
Pop-tops and new builds
A second story on an old bungalow, or a new townhome in Central Park, usually means an upstairs that runs 6 to 10 degrees warmer in July. Zoning or a ductless head upstairs is the usual answer.
What we fix most often in Denver
- Orphaned water heater flue
- When a furnace that shared a brick chimney with the water heater is replaced by a high-efficiency model vented in PVC, the water heater is left alone in a chimney sized for two and can backdraft. We test the draft and line the chimney when needed, as part of the install.
- Radiators that heat unevenly
- Air trapped at the top of the radiators, or a waterlogged expansion tank. A boiler tune-up includes bleeding every radiator and checking the tank.
- Old duct wrap
- Ducts in pre-1980 houses sometimes have white or gray wrap at the joints. We don't cut or scrape it. If the job requires it, we stop and have it tested first.
- Upstairs too hot in summer
- Common in pop-tops and two-story Denver Squares. We measure the supply temperature room by room before we suggest anything.

Kari came out herself to look at the boiler in our 1925 house. They bled every radiator, and the back bedroom is finally warm.

The plan pays for itself for us. They came in October, cleaned the flame sensor, and we skipped the usual first-cold-night breakdown.
