Emergency heating and AC repair, 24 hours a day

A person answers every call, nights, weekends and holidays included. Two technicians are on call every night, and a third goes on call when Denver drops below zero.

Two situations where you call 911 first

You smell gas

Get everyone out of the house now. Don't switch lights on or off, don't use the garage door opener and don't use a phone inside. Once you're outside and away from the house, call 911 and Xcel Energy's gas emergency line at 1-800-895-2999. Go back in only when they say it's safe, then call us.

Xcel Energy supplies gas to most of the metro. If your gas bill comes from another company, call the emergency number printed on it.

On-call technicians

Denver

Two technicians are on call every night of the year.

  • Marcus Greene, senior technician, in a snowy Aurora backyard next to an outdoor heat pump

    MarcusEast side

  • Mateo Ruiz, technician, holding a multimeter next to a gas furnace in a Denver basement

    MateoWest side

  • Dana Whitfield, technician, leaning on an extension ladder in front of a suburban house

    DanaNorth side

  • Priya Raman, technician, in an open garage with a tool bag and a refrigerant gauge case on the workbench

    PriyaSouth side

No-heat calls with a baby, an older adult or medical equipment in the house go first. Tell the dispatcher.

  1. A person answers

Day or night, someone from our dispatch picks up the phone.

  2. The technician calls you back

Within 15 minutes. Some calls end there, with a reset that saves you the visit.

  3. Arrival

At night, usually 45 to 90 minutes across the metro. The first big cold snap of the season can push that longer.

  4. A price before any work

The repair comes from the same flat-rate book we use during the day. You approve it before we start.

Waiting on a part? We leave two electric space heaters at no charge until it's in.

Water spreading on a basement floor from an overflowing condensate pump under a furnace, lit by a flashlight

No heat? Check these four things first

  1. Thermostat

Set it to Heat, a few degrees above the room temperature. Blank screen? Replace the batteries.

  2. Furnace switch

It looks like a light switch on or near the furnace, and it gets flipped off by accident more often than you'd think.

  3. Vent pipes outside

Snow or ice in the white PVC pipes shuts high-efficiency furnaces down. Clear them by hand, then set the thermostat again.

  4. Filter

A gray, clogged filter can make the furnace shut itself off. Swap it if you have a spare.

While you wait, open the cabinet doors under the kitchen and bathroom sinks. Pipes on outside walls freeze first.

Something else? Call (303) 555-0167. A person answers at any hour.

What counts as an emergency?

No heat in cold weather, no cooling in a heat wave for someone at risk, water leaking from the system or a burning smell. If you're not sure, call. We'll tell you honestly if it can wait until morning.

Do you charge more at night?

The visit is $179 at night, on Sundays and on holidays, and $89 for plan members. The repair itself comes from the same flat-rate book as during the day.

Will someone come on Christmas?

Yes. Two technicians are on call every night of the year, holidays included.

What if you need a part you don't have?

Most common parts are on the van. If one has to be ordered, we leave two electric space heaters at no charge until it's in.
